How to Improve Prostate Health With A Diet

admin October 10, 2020

The prostate gland, an integral part of the male reproductive system, continues to grow and change during a man’s lifetime. If men want to live a long and healthy life, they need to maintain prostate health. Below are three medical issues that can happen as a result of the prostate gland.

Issues Concerning The Prostate Gland

The prostate can affect sexual functions and urination in the dependence on its location.

Prostatitis is an infection or inflammation. Prostatitis causes the urgent need to urinate, burning and pain during urination, and painful ejaculation.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia or  BPH  is the enlargement of the prostate. In this case, men urinate with difficulty because the prostate is pressing on the urethra. 75% of men over 60 suffer from this condition.

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US. One in every seven men in his lifetime is diagnosed with prostate cancer.

To reduce the risk of Prostatitis,  Benign prostatic hyperplasia, or prostate cancer, a man can take preventive measures. He can eat foods for prostate health, make lifestyle changes, and become aware of his family history.

Below are the best foods for prostate health.

Foods for prostate health

1. Man has to eat more fruits and vegetables and whole grains if he is on a prostate diet.

He has to consume whole-grain bread and bulk grains and five servings of vegetables and fruits every single day. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant and cancer-fighting ingredient. It makes fruit and vegetables red. Men on a prostate diet can find it in red peppers and tomatoes.

There are no guidelines about the amount of lycopene man should try to get each day. According to the researches, the man in a prostate diet needs to eat lycopene-foods all-day to consume the necessary amounts for lycopene to make any difference.

Cruciferous vegetables such as bok choy, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kale, cabbage, and cauliflower are other foods for prostate health.

2. Man need to reduce consumption of meat’s protein  to improve Prostate Health

Man must have to know how to improve prostate health by reducing meat’s protein consumption.

He needs to avoid red meat, pork, beef, lamb and goat, to limit the

consumption of processed meats,  as hot dogs and sandwich meat.

He can consume protein via fish with high levels of omega-3 acids, including tuna and salmon. Eggs, beans, and skinless poultry are also healthy options for protein.

3. Man has to increase the amount of soy in their enlarged prostate diet

Do you know that soy fights cancer? Man can use tofu, soy flour, soy nuts, and soy powders as foods for prostate help. By replacing soy milk with cow’s milk in the coffee or cereal in one more way to more soy in their enlarged prostate diet. There are also no evidence-based guidelines about the amount of soy man should incorporate into their diet.

4. Man with a prostate needs to limit alcohol, caffeine, and sugar intake.

They don’t need to exclude the caffeine from their diet. They only need to limit it to 1 or 2 cups of coffee per day. The same is with alcohol. They don’t need to cut off the alcohol from their diet entirely. That needs to limit it to a couple of small glasses weekly. Drinks like fruit juices and sodas have zero nutritional benefits. On the other side, they have a lot of sugar in them. Man with prostate  problems need to avoid them ( sometimes they are also caffeinated)

5. Man has to limit the salt intake to improve the prostate health

Salt is often used as a preservative in the canned, packaged, and frozen foods.  Man with prostate problems has to avoid these foods and replace them with fresh food

Everyone, not only men with prostate problems, has to read and compare food labels. Most food labels state how much sodium is in a product and what percentage people need to intake as their daily recommended intake of sodium. According to The American Heart Association, Americans need to consume less than 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day.

6. Men with prostate problems need to keep good fats and get rid of bad fats.

Men with prostate problems need to avoid processed and fast foods. They contain trans fats that are incredibly unhealthy. They need to limit their consumption of saturated fats from animals and consume more healthy fats, like nuts, olive oil, and avocados. All animal products high in fat, such as butter, meat, and lard, have increased prostate cancer risk.
