Upcoming BMW Cars in India in 2021

admin December 24, 2020

BMW has tasted quite the success in the Indian market, and it now comes across as the second to the top luxury carmaker in the Indian market. For ages now, BMW has held strong and neck-in-neck with Mercedes-Benz – which is the current leading luxury automaker in the Indian market – to become the most successful luxury carmaker in the Indian market.

BMW is, however, more popular in the eyes of enthusiasts and boy racers with adrenaline rushing to their hearts since the manufacturer makes the most enthusiastic cars that can really go one step ahead in order to put a massive grin on the face of the driver. This also means that BMWs are also the choice of wheels for every automotive journalist. After all, we do crave for cars that handle better and have an emotional connect with the driver. And, BMW, in this department, outshines almost every other luxury automaker in the Indian market, save for the likes of the big boys like Porsche, Lamborghini, and so on.

With that out of the way, we’re going to take a look at what’s up and coming in BMW’s product portfolio by next year. So, here’s a list we’ve made out of what we can see in our nearest BMW cars dealerships in 2021.

1. BMW 5 Series Facelift

Of the other sedans in the automaker’s line-up, it’s only the ongoing 5 Series that feels a bit old, given that the rest of the range brings BMW’s latest design language and fancy interiors to the mix. In the pictures, then, the new 2021 5 Series look very similar to the 2019 3 Series, which means it’s sportier, bolder, has larger kidney grills, but a wider and longer silhouette, of course. The new 5 Series also gets sleeker headlamps – with Adaptive LED headlamps – along with new shades, and a completely revamped front end design. The interiors, too, as said above, has substantial revisions and is now more in line with newer-age BMWs both in terms of the dashboard layout and the overall quality of materials and fit-and-finish. As for the engine options, in India, we’d get the 5 Series in 530i, 520d, and 530d trims. Although, we do hope that BMW shall bring the 540i trim to the Indian market, for that’s going to be a hoot to drive. Expect the 5 Series facelift to make its debut in the Indian market in the first half of 2021.

2. BMW M5 Facelift

Like the 5 Series, the M5 is also expected to revamped soon, and hence, will be going through a visual upgrade next year. It was, however, unveiled in June this year, but it will only make it to the Indian market in the latter half of 2021, after, of course, the 5 Series facelift has been launched in the Indian market. Changes to the M5 facelift include a revised front end, sportier overall stance, and revised interiors, much like the 5 Series facelift. In the powertrain department, we expect BMW to still use the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which continues to produce 592bhp and 750Nm of torque.

3. BMW X8

If you thought the X7 was BMW’s largest vehicle and is too big for an average consumer – which, it really is though – there’s an X8 in the pipeline too, which, as sources suggest, could be focussed more towards the driver and hence, a sporty iteration in BMW’s SUV line-up. It is also speculated to be a four-door Coupe SUV, given that the carmaker’s current range of X vehicles with an even suffix constitute only Coupe SUVs. So, in terms of the way it looks, we expect the X8 to look like a blend of the X6 and X7, or perhaps a bigger and sportier X6. The SUV is expected to be revealed sometime next year, and there’s a word that it’s going to make its way to the Indian market too.

4. BMW i8 Roadster

The BMW i8, as long as it was on sale in the Indian market, used to be one heck of an attention grabber as it featured a very futuristic design. The i8 Roadster is going to take a lot of its mechanicals and underpinnings from the i8, but it’s going to feature an open-top design, which will make it even fancier than the older i8.
