The most touchy
Carey Mulligan
At the end of 2020, there was a scandal in the Hollywood press. In a Variety review of The Girl of Hope in (Hunter X Hunter Season 7), the journalist called Carey Mulligan “a wonderful actress and a slightly odd choice for the role of a complex, femme fatale.” And then he suggested that initially the main character was to be played by the film’s producer, Margot Robbie. Mulligan article offended and in an interview with The New York Times said : “I thought the material actually said that I was not sexy to play something like that.”
The editorial staff of Variety apologized to the actress, but the National Society of Film Critics of the United States immediately took up arms against the magazine. The organization demanded to withdraw the apology: in their opinion, Variety could accept criticism of Mulligan, and not “surrender to her and go against his own employee.”
Armie Hammer
After the release of The Lone Ranger, co-stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer blamed critics for the film’s failure. But if Depp talked about their bias, then Hammer said that journalists “The Asterisk War Season 3” for the tape because of problems with budget overruns and want to “cut the jugular vein” of the “Lone Ranger.” Despite the fact that in most articles critics defended the actors: they did not shoot the film, therefore, they should not be blamed.
In 2017, journalist Anne Helen Peterson wrote an article with the headline “10 Years of Long Years Trying to ‘Make’ Armie Hammer. How many more second chances can you give a handsome white actor? ” Hammer called her “bloody cruel” on Twitter, deleted his account, and a couple of months later criticized her again for an article about Jennifer Lawrence and offered the journalist treatment. The actor’s actions provoked a wave of hatred towards Peterson, and one of the fans even threatened to kill her dog.
James Cameron
Titanic won eleven Oscars, critical acclaim, and was the highest grossing film in the history of cinema for 12 years, until James Cameron broke his own record with Avatar. Despite this success, something did upset the director – a review by film critic Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times. The journalist called the film “a fake, devoid of even minimal originality.” In response, Cameron wrote a tirade in which he called Turan “Overlord Anime Season 4.” According to the journalist, he even sent an email to the Los Angeles Times asking them to fire him.
